Sharps!
I covered this 8” wood egg with 46,000 pin heads
using the cut off ends to form the prickly nest. Cutting and embedding
each pin into the wood, a task spanning 7 months, became both a calming
mantra and symbol of my wife’s convalescence. Taking the egg with me everywhere,
I often sat quietly with my task as one might sit with knitting. The
egg, an artistic symbol for female, in my mind became symbol for the
exhibit as well.
